Electric and Computer Science

__________________________________________________________________________________

This department is formed by the following research areas:

  1. Automatic Control of Complex Systems: Its objective is to study various aspects of the development of algorithms for the design and implementation of automated control schemes and online monitoring of complex dynamic process.

  2. Information Technology: Its aim is to study various aspects of the development and technology for mini satellites and optical communications systems.

  3. Linguistic Engineering:  Its objective is the application of knowledge about language and computer science to develop computer systems that are able to recognize, understand, interpret and generate human language.

  4. Power Systems: Its objective is the study of electric power grids considering dynamic aspects where power electronics control a deregulated environment. Transient models and static conditions of controllers based on power electronics and their incorporation into large electric grids are studied.

  5. Modeling of complex systems: Its objective is the study of models of complex processes involving different types of variables and dynamic phenomena, such as vehicular traffic and network models.
