Systems Engineering

Since its inception in 1970, the objectives of the department aim at developing methodologies and studies on urban and regional planning, rural development, micro-regional, industrial development, technological innovation and sectorial planning in all specialties. This department is made up of ten academic researchers and six technicians. Out of the researchers, seven have doctorates and the other three hold masters degree. Three of them belong to the National Researchers System (SNI). Out of the academic technicians, three have master's degrees.

Traditionally, this department has accommodated a large number of trainees and currently has four bachelors, nine masters and two doctoral students.

The work of this department is supported by several lines of research and joint projects sponsored by institutions such as DGAPA-UNAM, EuP-UNAM, CONACYT, Ministry of Energy, CFE, World Bank, Agency for International Development (USAID), SEP, National Institute for Adult Education, International Center for Research and Development of the ALFA Program of the European Union.

The facilities of the department are divided between the Engineering Tower, 2nd floor, north wing and the ground floor and second floor of building 12 Bernardo Quintana, Circuito Exterior, Ciudad Universitaria, Tel. 5622 8133. In the first site is the Laboratory of Transportation and Territorial Systems, with computer and specialized software for viewing and processing of satellite images.
