Vibration Control

__________________________________________________________

This laboratory is part of the
Electrical and Computer Science Department.
It began operations in 2007.
The laboratory is run by
Dr. Luis A. Alvarez Icaza Longoria.
It is located in building 18,
II UNAM. Ciudad Universitaria.

SCOPE

This laboratory allows academics to use research methods of semi-active vibration control in buildings.

ACTIVITIES

Physical and numerical modeling of vibration in buildings and their control by dampers.

MAJOR WORKS AND RECENT PROYECTS

Magneto-rheological dampers research used in the attenuation of the vibrations induced in buildings by earthquakes.

Real-time characterization of elastic models of buildings.

EQUIPMENT

Two-Dimensional shaking table for small-scale prototypes.

Data acquisition equipment.

Accelerometers and displacement meters.
