Hydraulics

This laboratory is part of the
Hydraulics department.
It began operations in 1957.
The laboratory is run by
M. I. Victor Franco
M. I. Javier Romero Osnaya .
It is located in the
Building 3, "Raul Sandoval Landazuri"
II UNAM. Ciudad Universitaria.

SCOPE

Originally this laboratory began to study models of rivers; however, it is currently focused on experimental research related to Basic Hydraulics.

ACTIVITIES

The main projects that have been carried out consist of the modeling of vertical pipe elbows, the tunnel spillway of the dam Huites, and studies of lifting of slabs and sediment transport in rivers.

MAJOR WORKS AND RECENT PROYECTS

Control structure to divert water from La Fábrica stream into a tunnel in Mozimba, Guerrero.

FACILITIES

The main facility consists of two channels of variable slope (one small and one large) and has equipment to measure speed, water depths and pressure.
