Sustainability and energy research focuses on the analysis and development of techniques and technology for energy sustainability, the use of clean or renewable energy, conservation of non-renewable energy and the clean use of fossil energy, which generally includes the following stages: conceptualization of different options and selecting the most appropriate, processes to make efficient use of energy, design sets to define the right system for energy transition, the selection of alternatives to energy diversification, as well as potential scenario analysis and benefit analysis.

Of course, it is necessary to test and often make changes to the techniques and technology according to the results of those tests. Sometimes this method must be repeated several times.
The team also conducts test development and technology characterization.

In addition, academics explore theoretical developments such as mathematical modeling simulation and optimization. Example of sustainability and energy projects developed at the Institute are: green mortgage, the solar plant, solar radiation atlas, bio climate and natural ventilation.
